What's Going On? Newark and the Legacy of the Sixties What's Going On? Newark and the Legacy of the Sixties examines the social forces that led to the outbreak of urban rebellion in 1967 and the lasting impact on the people, landscape, institutions and economy of the region. Through photographs, artifacts, period media and oral histories, discover the diverse stories of how and why Newark - and the nation - changed in the 1960's and the struggle for renewal and rebirth since that time. Supported in part with funding from PSE&G; Prudential Foundation; Victoria Foundation, Inc.; JPMorgan Chase; Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation; Jockey Hollow Foundation; Investors Savings Bank's Charitable Foundation; Essex County Building and Trade Association; Charles Emil Thenen Foundation; and the New Jersey Historical Commission, a Division of the Department of State.
