""Reminiscences of the Civil War, 1861 - 1865, n.d. 1 vol.

A resident of Perth Amboy, Crowell enlisted in a local company

soon after the bombardment of Fort Sumter. He later served as an

officer in several New York regiments. He participated in twenty-

two engagements, including Seven Pines, Malvern Hill, Second

Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness

Campaign, Spotsylvania, and Cold Harbor.
