Summary:

The book contains outlines of sermons by this Presbyterian minister, who during his career served as a pastor in Succasunna, Wantage Township, and Newark.  Born in Rockaway Valley, Morris County, Kanouse studied at Bloomfield Academy and pursued theological studies under the direction of Rev. James Richards of Newark.  Ordained in 1822, he began his career as pastor of a Presbyterian church in Succasunna.  Subsequently, he served as a missionary to the Indians in Sussex County.  A note in the sermon outline book indicates that Kanouse also taught at Newton Academy in Newton.
