Not much is expressed in this diary about George E. Burns. It is clear that he resided in New Jersey and kept a diary of his daily activities in 1863.
This small collection consists of just George E. Burns's pocket diary that he kept in 1863. The diary includes a calendar, rates of postage, eclipses in 1863, and pages for journal entries for each day of the year. In the entries George wrote about what his activities were for the day, who he came in contact with, and if the weather was pleasant or not. George spoke of a man named Whitman in a few of the entries, and took note that he went to church every Sunday.
