Wayne Johnson attended Oak Knoll School in Williamstown, New Jersey. During the academic year 1950-1951, he was a student in the fourth grade in the class of Ella M. Frye.
The volume, which is entitled My Poems and is dedicated to his mother, contains both his poetry and his illustrations. Many of the poems describe his school activities and his observations about nature. Titles include: "School Days," "Animals," "Kites," "Our Nurse," and "The Butterfly." The volume also contains the comments of his teacher.
