Description: | The New Jersey Historical Society is seeking an experienced museum education professional for the position of Curator of Education. This position oversees and grows all programming, ensuring that the programs meet the institution’s goals of creating opportunities for learning that are suitable to a multiplicity of audiences, illuminate aspects of America’s past through the lens of New Jersey and reflect the diversity of the state. The Curator of Education develops, teaches, manages and evaluates all student, family, adult and teacher training programming. The schedule of the Curator of Education will be a 5-day week, with flexibility to work a weekend or evening program as needed.
Major Duties
• hire, train, supervise and evaluate Education staff and interns/volunteers
* teach education programs for all ages and levels
* maintain/increase school group bookings and institute collaborative school relationships
* create and maintain relationships through advisory committees and organizations
* develop and implement education programs for audiences other than schools
• develop interpretive education materials/curriculum
• collaborate with other NJHS staff as needed on exhibitions, publicity, grants, special projects
• stay current with state and national trends/policies in Education and ensure NJHS program relevance
• ensure that the Education Department regularly keeps statistics, is active in program development and evaluation, creates yearly and project budgets, and monitors expenditures

Requirements:
B.A./B.S. in education/museum education, Master’s strongly preferred, minimum 5 years museum education/public programming and management
