NEW EXHIBIT
Send the Word: New Jersey During the Great War

2017-06-29

The New Jersey Historical Society will mark U.S. entry into World War I with an exhibit“Send the Word: New Jersey During the Great War.”

NJHS's artifacts, images and manuscripts from its museum and library collections creates a stirring testament to the sacrifices and struggles of the state at war. Items from the Historical Society’s trove of more than 50 out of 100 wartime posters will be digitally reproduced and displayed, along with soldiers’ uniforms and equipment, family correspondence and personal items illustrating a transformative period in New Jersey’s history.
Including in our exhibit is the sounds of war songs coming from the 1916 Edison multiphone, an artillery shell and gas mask.
