Early Turnpike promotional materials almost always touted the road's speed; this advertisement aimed at truckers emphasizes how speed could save drivers precious time. Before the Turnpike was built, engineers estimated the Turnpike would save 1-1/2 hours for a complete trip from north to south; after it opened, promotional material upped the time savings to two hours.
